Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
Delicious and easy vanilla buttercream recipe.
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, at room temperature
  • 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons milk, or more as needed
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Place butter in a medium-size mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer on low speed until fluffy, 30 seconds. Stop the machine and add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla a bit at a time, beating with the mixer on low speed until the sugar is well incorporated, 1 minute. Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat the frosting until light and fluffy, 1 minute longer. Beat in up to 1 tablespoon more milk if the frosting seems too stiff. Use frosting at once.
