Gluten Free Apple Pie
The best apple pie recipe!
Ingredients
- 1 recipe gluten free pie crust
- 7 cups peeled and sliced Grannie Smith apples
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons gluten free flour (I use Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free Flour)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 3 tablespoons cubed butter
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Prepare one recipe of gluten free pie crust. Roll out half the dough according to the recipe instructions and place in a 9-inch pie plate.2. Combine sugar, gluten free flour, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Whisk the ingredients together.3. Pour sugar mixture into the apples and mix thoroughly until all the apples are coated. 4. Pour apples into a dough-lined pie plate and distribute them evenly.5. Dot the top of the apples with cubed butter.6. Place top crust over the apples. Press edges to seal dough and use your favorite method to flute the edges. Cut or poke several small vents in the top of the pie crust.7. Brush pie crust with milk and then sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.8. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown and the apples are tender. 9. Check frequently. If the edges brown too quickly, place a strip of foil around the edge to prevent burning.10. Allow pie to cool for several minutes before cutting.
