Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

You will never go back to store bought frosting after trying this recipe! This goes perfectly with the yellow cupcakes and will make any birthday cake or cupcake so delicious.

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
This classic frosting is perfect for all chocolate lovers!
  • 6 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Place the butter in a medium size mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer on low speed until fluffy, about 30 seconds. Stop the machined and add the cocoa, confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla a little bit at a time, beating with the mixer on low speed until the confectioner's sugar is well incorporated, about 1 minute. Increase the mixer to medium and beat the frosting until light and fluffy, about 1 min. longer. Beat in up to 1 tablespoon more milk if the frosting seems too stiff. Use frosting immediately.
